I'm pleased to announce that the Texas A&M Department of Architecture has an
opening for one or more
Environmental Systems faculty that would teach undergraduate and graduate
level Environmental Systems classes,
including HVAC, solar, lighting, daylighting, acoustics, and simulation.

This person(s) would also have the opportunity to work closely with the
Energy Systems Laboratory
on existing and new research projects, related to energy/environmental
concerns in the built environment.

Tenure Track Faculty Positions

The Department of Architecture at Texas A&M University, with over 900
students, is one of the largest of its kind in the United States, offering a
Bachelor of Environmental Design, Master of Architecture, Master of Science
in Architecture, Master of Science in Visualization Sciences, and Doctor of
Philosophy in Architecture.  The Department invites applications for
full-time tenure-track positions beginning in August 2002, with rank and
salary commensurate with qualifications.  The Department seeks highly
qualified applicants able to initiate creative and innovative approaches to
teaching and conduct rigorous research in a context of knowledge--based
design for the following positions.

1 .	Environmental technology: bioclimatic factors in design, lighting,
acoustics, plumbing, electricity, sustainable and solar design, daylighting,
life safety, and ECS/HVAC.  This appointment should address the relevant
environmental technologies and the important the ways in which they inform
building design.  Applicants should exhibit an aptitude for rigorous pursuit
of research.

2.	Structural design: Applicants must be capable of teaching, developing
curriculum, and directing structures course sequences at the undergraduate
and graduate levels.  Important to this position is an ability to relate
structural considerations with the formative process of design.  Applicants
should exhibit an aptitude for rigorous pursuit of research.

3.	Foundation studio design: Applicants must demonstrate a creative ability
to teach in the foundation levels of the Environmental Design Program and in
pursuing intellectual goals through scholarship and creative work.
Applicants should exhibit an aptitude for rigorous pursuit of creative work.

4.	Graduate studio design: Applicants must demonstrate a deep interest in
teaching graduate architectural design in the Master of Architecture Program
and in pursuing intellectual goals through research, scholarship and
creative work.  Applicants should exhibit an aptitude for rigorous pursuit
of research and/or professional work.

All applicants should hold advanced degrees in their appropriate areas of
expertise, demonstrate competence in research, and exhibit aptitude for
teaching.  Send a statement of interest, curriculum vitae with telephone
numbers and addresses of at least three references, and examples of
professional, scholarly, or creative work by February 15, 2002, or until
position is filled.
