Peter,

The ES-F report summarizes just the blocks and ratchet components of the
utility rate structure. If they aren't matching, then you have some
non-block costs included in the definition of the utility structure.

For example,

"XXX" = UTILITY-RATE

   TYPE             = ELECTRICITY

   MONTH-CHGS       = ( 110 )

   ENERGY-CHG       = 0.01836

   DEMAND-CHGS      = ( 3.84 )

   BLOCK-CHARGES = ( "On Peak Summer", "Intermediate Summer",

         "Off Peak Summer", "On Peak Winter", "Intermediate Winter",

         "Off Peak Winter", "Demand Gen Summer", "Demand Gen Winter" )

   DEMAND-INTERVAL  = 30

With monthly energy usage of 22,476 kWh and 81.2 kW, the total energy
costs are $1750, but the ES-F reports $915. This is due the $110
monthly charge, the additional $0.01836/kwh fixed consumption charge
($413 = 0.01836 * 22476), and the additional 3.84/kW fixed demand charge
($312 = 3.84 * 81.2). Thus, the ES-E total of $1750 = 110 + 413 + 312 +
915

Hope this makes sense.

Subject: [bldg-sim] CHP energy cost summary

Does anyone have any experience with utility rate applications for
electricity? We are simulating the cost comparison of building having a
traditional chilled water plant and boilers against a plant having three
cogeneration units providing heat for an absorption chiller. The results
shown in report ES-E do not match report ES-F. The total charges should
be the same or am I missing something?
