[BLDG-SIM] perimeter zones

Dear all,
 
I do not undestand who to model the interaction between perimeter and core zones. E-quest seems to use an "air wall" with impossed U-value and solar absortance. How are these values chosen? and, Does this wall exchange long wave radiation?
