[bldg-sim] Thermal COmfort in ballrooms

Jeff, one can use ASHRAE standard 55 to predict comfort in ballrooms,
simply use the correct metabolic rate and clothing factors and it is
easy to analyze comfort for different HVAC systems. Not having been in
too many Ballrooms but having designed a few I would say this is the
best approach. Now if one were designing a bar that might be a different
approach, which one more akin to adaptive comfort, the more you drink
the more your body adapts to the environment.

So the bottom line for the Ballroom is if you get the system wrong, make
sure they have plenty to drink.

Jeff,

Greetings from sunny South Africa !!

I think I am your only African member ??

Please could you assist - I have come across a paper by Rob Moult of
Johnsons Controls on temp control on ballrooms. I need to know if
anyone else has done research into this aspect. Do we have a forum
where I can ask the question ?

Thanks,

   Mike barker
