[BLDG-SIM] Explain this: overhangs in eQuest

Dear Scott:
Without looking at your model inputs, I wonder if your model may be in a heating dominated climate.
Overhangs can reduce your cooling load, but the heating load may be increased as a result of the added shading during winter.
If the heating load increase overshadows the cooling load savings from that measure, the net energy consumption may increase.

I hope this helps.

Sean

Subject: [BLDG-SIM] Explain this: overhangs in eQuest

Explain this:
How can I add overhangs to my South Facing windows and my electric and gas consumption go up for the year?
I thought I was adding these to conserve energy!
I have done this on a simple generic building and the same result happened.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You
