[bldg-sim] Chiller Efficiency

I am doing an eQuest analysis of a building. I am trying to calculate
the energy usage of the building. I have an air handler with chilled
water coils.

Now, when I am in DD wizard I have to specify the CHW Plant Equipment. I
know the type of Chillers, Condensers, and Compressors in the Central
Campus Plant and have sized the system characteristics for my building's
load and the equipment I selected.

Since I am testing the energy usage of My building, I do not account for
the energy usage of the existing plant and any extra energy it uses to
provide for my building. I also am not charged for Chilled water.

I have seen people mention using meters when a Central Plant is
involved. When defining a meter, my understanding of the billing units,
equipment capacity(I assume this is the Mbtu/h of my building),source to
site efficiency, and heat exchanger characteristics are limited.

More simply, can't I just say that the efficiency is 0 kw/ton. (My logic
is that my building is consuming no energy due to the chiller to handle
each ton of cooling.)

I don't want the cost of utilities I receive from my plant to factor
into the total energy cost of my building.

Any thoughts,corrections, or suggestions?

Thanks for the help,

Scott Runyon
