[BLDG-SIM] Dummy Zone for dedicated OA units

Another question on this topic...

eQuest allows the OA for, say, a heat pump, to come from a dedicated OA
unit. What is the best way to model this system when the OA unit has
heat recovery on it? Assigning it to a dummy zone will not allow for
any heat recovery since there are no loads in the zone. Another way
would be to add heat recovery and OA to each individual unit and not
simulate the dedicated unit. However, eQuest does not allow WL Heat
Pump systems to utilize energy recovery. Another option may be to
change the individual system type to Packaged Single Zone with a heat
pump for heating and cooling then set up each to use heat recovery.

Thanks for any ideas.

Scott,

You can designate a small portion of the building to be a dummy zone, or
you can make the zone float off in space away from the building. The
important thing is that the dummy zone has no loads (zero people, lights
equipment, adiabatic exterior surfaces, etc.).

I've read before that to correctly model a dedicated outdoor air unit,
one should assign it to a dummy zone.

How do I go about creating a Dummy zone for an outside air handler?

Do I just make a small portion of the building its own zone and assign
this OA unit to it?

Thanks for all your help. Any other suggestionss with OA units would be
appreciated.
