Sustainable Building Analyst

Elements, the sustainable design consulting division of BNIM Architects,
is currently seeking an experienced Sustainable Building Analyst with a
focus on energy and daylight analysis for a wide variety of  new
construction and renovation projects across the United States.

Elements is a highly specialized division of BNIM Architects, one of the
leaders in the sustainable design movement. Our goal is to push the
boundaries of sustainable thinking and design on projects and to help
create innovative solutions on a variety of project types. 

Elements is dedicated to helping design firms, corporations, state,
county and municipal governments and non-profits balance environmental
and economic concerns by the transformation and increased efficiency of
buildings, developments and communities.

The Analyst will work with both BNIM design teams and Elements
consulting clientele to actively inform the project design and integrate
efficiency measures into the design by evaluating building and system
design strategies.  The emphasis will be on using building and daylight
simulation tools to help inform design, as well as document performance
compared to applicable standards.  While the primary focus is on energy
and water performance based on building and climate type specific energy
and water efficiency measures, other responsibilities include directed
research and evaluation and analysis of green building products.  The
Analyst will also have opportunities to educate the community, the
industry and clients on new technologies and innovative solutions via
abstracts, publications and conference presentations.

At a minimum the candidate should be USGBC LEED accredited and have an
advanced degree with 2+ years of relevant experience in building energy
analysis using building simulation tools for energy and daylight
analysis.  Candidates with experience modeling to the requirements of
the USGBC's LEED-NC program, including preparation of technical reports,
presentations and project team communications are preferred.  The
candidate must have strong knowledge of Visual DOE, Equest or EnergyPlus
as well as a Radiance based daylight simulation tool. Experience with
IES Virtual Environment, CFD modeling and knowledge of renewable energy
systems would be beneficial. The candidate should have excellent
abilities with MS Excel and PowerPoint with excellent graphic skills as
a plus.  Creative thinking with effective written and oral communication
and teamwork skills are required. Candidate is expected to assist and
sometimes lead the preparation of information regarding the design,
specifications, materials, equipment, estimated life cycle costs and
creation of sustainable matrices.  Additionally candidates will have
opportunities assist with the design and sometimes lead the presentation
of sustainability workshops to professionals in the fields of
architecture, engineering, real-estate and construction.

This position will require working closely with other staff members,
associated consultants, and members of multiple client project teams.
We are looking for the candidate who is well organized, a good time
manager, adaptable, enjoys travel and flexible to changes in deadlines
and work focus.  Travel may be required
