[BLDG-SIM] crawl Space

FYI.

We have found with DOE-21e, when modeling a crawlspace, that one must have some portion of crawlspace wall above grade, or else DOE-2 will not calc infltration as it assumes the below-grade wall is surrounded by the ground.

Also, one should use Winkleman-Huang ground coupling model, and use CWFs, layered walls, floors, etc. Otherwise, be prepared for some odd results. Its a good idea to look at the crawlspace "zone" temp to see that it stays reasonable.

If it is a sealed crawl space, you can simulate it as a separate zone,
but if it is not, then, you might need to look at the ventilation rate
in the crawl space; for example, if the entire crawlspace floor is
covered, then you can reduce the number of openings, if not then you
have to provide the minimum amount of opining on the crawlspace as
specified by code. Second; did you insulate the crawlspace walls or the
floor of the first floor?

Might anyone know how eQuest models crawlspace
calculations, specifically, how one can derive load
requirements for the crawlspace itself.
