[Bldg-sim] Fwd: RE: File closes eQuest

Fixed it. I created a totally new building with the Schematic Design
Wizard and accepted all the defaults. I then kept bringing in sections
of the bad INP file to this good INP file, running it in eQuest, until I
ran into problems (using MS Word’s “Compare and Merge” feature). The
below ended up being the corrupt (?) sections. Please let me know if
you see anything funny in them and/or how I can re-enter this data
safely.

Thanks everyone for your help and responsiveness.

Scott Criswell had no problems loading the file and subsequently deleted
some data relating to a) the initial program module being directed to
the results module and b) the 3-D view geometry settings (all Greek to
me) in hopes that it might solve the problem. Unfortunately I still get
the same problem.

I recently dug through some old emails and found that the creator of the
model had some crashes while running Title 24 compliance, and it seemed
to be machine-specific (as is mine). However I have a completely new
computer.

I've been hands off for the past couple of days, but will try the
last/latest suggestion: Using a text editor to change the climate
inputs back to the default in the pd2. Any ideas on registry problems
anyone?

FYI I had already tried opening from the INP file, and re-installing
eQuest.

Thanks everyone for your help. Unfortunately, although the consensus
has been that it's a version problem, it doesn't seem to be. Here's
what I've tried so far:

-Verifying that the version the in which the file was created is the
same version I'm running (It is.)
-Opening the file with 3.6, 3.61b, 3.61e build 5653 and 5360.
-Logging on as an Administrator and running.
-Opening it up on the one machine that can open the file, modifying
slightly, and then saving under a different name.

None of it got me any farther.

Just to re-iterate, this is what happens:

-On starting eQuest: "Failed to update the system registry. Please try
using REGEDIT." (doesn't happen when I'm admistrator, but still can't
open file)
-The BDL file loads with 35 Warnings (delayed wall, weighting factor)
then everything just closes without any error message.
-An ERROORLOG.TXT not generated.

>>> Eric Shadd 12/19/2007 9:34 AM >>>
Thanks Brett, I later found out that the ERRORLOG.TXT that I included
was not for this error (closes too quickly to write an ERRORLOG.txt?).
I also found that on other machines, upon opening, they get the error:

File Format Error
Line Number:31
Column Number:16

I will try opening with an older version...if I can find one.

Eric,
I had this problem when a co-worker was using version d and I was using
version e. Make sure you're both using the same version.
