[bldg-sim] eQUEST HVAC sizing runs

Assuming you are using eQUEST, in the Detailed Edit mode, you can
specify the ratio of equipment sizing that you want for both heating and
cooling. So to specify the Appendix G baseline model, you would
oversize cooling by a factor of 1.15 and heating by a factor of 1.25.
Take care to check what the system sizing ratio is set at as well so you
don't add safety factor upon safety factor. Good luck.

Subject: [bldg-sim] eQUEST HVAC sizing runs

Hello,

As I mentioned previously, I am creating an energy model for a LEED
project. In "baselining" the building, one of the stipulations of
ASHRAE 90.1 2004 is:
"G3.1.2.2 Equipment Capacities. The equipment capacities for the
baseline building design shall be based on sizing runs for each
orientation and shall be oversized by 15% for cooling and 25% for
heating"

I think that means I use "auto-size", but then how do I capture what
that size is and oversize it accordingly? I am guessing that the
results may be in the SIM file. Can anyone provide tips for executing
this? Is there a better way to do that auto-sizing for each
orientation?

Thanks,
Andrew McNamara
