Hopefully you used custom weighting factors with layered walls and the  Winklemann/Huang slab model. Makes a big difference.

I've drawn R-vals for straw bale walls from "Thermal Performance of Straw Bale Wall Systems" (http://www.ecobuildnetwork.org/pdfs/Thermal_properties.pdf) and "Straw Bale Wall Hot Box Test Results and Analysis" (authors -  J. E. Christian, A. O.Desjarlais, T. K. Stovall; year - 1999; not sure where published - maybe ASHRAE?)
 
I have modeled a straw bale wall in DOE-2.1 BDL using a layer of batt insulation sandwiched between stucco layers.
