[BLDG-SIM] On-site U-value measurement

PS: I note that you're an engineer in a manufacturing plant -- a thermal imager can pay for itself in such an environment when used in a "predictive maintenance" program.

This augments a purely schedule-based "preventive maintenance" program with activities that strive to identify motors, transformers, switches, breakers, etc. that are actually in need of repair. Some preventive maintenance activities are still required of course.

If a predictive/preventive maintenance program is implemented diligently, it can be more effective in avoiding catastrophic failure resulting in plant shutdown.

So this may provide some of the necessary additional justification for the expense of a thermal imager.

Subject: [BLDG-SIM] On-site U-value measurement

Dear All,

We are looking for a hand-held instrument for on-site measurement of the U-value or thermal conductivity of walls. Any experience about the measurement techniques and recommendations about instruments and brands are greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Gunes Inan
