Hi,
We are modeling a hospital in San Francisco with add-on Indirect Evap
cooling and humidity controls. We are leaving all of the Indirect Evap
settings to default (i.e. Evap + Main Cool Coil = Together, Drybulb High
Limit 120 F, Effectiveness = 0.80, etc). Our results are showing that the
heating energy consumption increases by 32,600 therms and the cooling energy
increases instead of decreasing.

As a test we ran the same building model in Las Vegas with and without
Indirect Evap and found that while the cooling energy decreased
dramatically, the heating energy went up so much that overall the building
wasn't saving energy.

Any thoughts on why the heating energy would increase with the Evaporative
Cooler? And why it would increase cooling energy in SF?

Thanks!
Kathryn
