[BLDG-SIM] LEED EA Prereq 2 - Clarification

For LEED purposes, the EAP2 requirement will be met by certifying that
you meet the mandatory requirements in the standard, and any one of:

1) Prescriptive compliance with standard

2) Performance compliance with standard (ECB)

3) Earning at least one point through EAC1

Now, it is a different question whether your local building code
official will accept the "one or more EAC1 points" point argument, along
the lines of what you've pointed out.

It is my understanding that what you state below is not actually
correct. demonstrating savings via Appendix G does not demonstrate
compliance with the standard. If you do not meet the mandatory
provisions you do not meet the prerequisite. If you do not meet the
prescriptive requirements then officially you need to demonstrate
compliance via the ECB method (chapter 11) in a pass/fail mode.

provided you pass, then you use Appendix G to demonstrate savings.

all - correct me if I am wrong here.

Thanks to everyone for weighing in on this. It turns out my question
regarding LEED was a little premature - you can use your Appendix G
documentation for this.

Which brings up the question - given that LEED now requires a minimum of
2 energy reduction credits to be earned, what's the point of the
prerequisite documentation?

Vik:

eQuest in its present form only can develop California Title 24 forms.
There IS a 90.1 Version in the works, but it is not yet available. Stay
tuned.

Vik,

I believe eQUEST will only produce overall performance for Title 24 not
the prescriptive forms.

Has anyone used eQUEST to document the EA prerequisite (compliance with
90.1 or other codes)? I suspect eQUEST does not do that for anything
other than Title 24 - am I correct?
