The location of the document with this important modification may seem simple from the link. However the location is not at all obvious on the USGBC's "improved" website. On the LEED/LEED Rating Systems/LEED NC page, there is a link to a summary of our dear rating system, some posted errata, multi-building/campus guidelines, and a link to "Green Source Mag." A user would be forgiven if they thought this was a complete accounting of the system.

BUT, separately there is a LEED/LEED Resources (different than "Resources")/LEED Reference Documents page, where this memo resides along with the errata again. Nothing on the Rating Systems page indicates or links to this other page where this and some other important guidelines for EAc1 are located. This page should be linked to the rating systems page(s). 

The CIR page, obscurely located under "Project Certification," should also be linked to the rating system summary page(s). And the CIRs should be viewable by the public not just us members.

The text in the LEED-NC 2.2 Reference Guide for EA Credit 1 (page 173) states, “Demonstrate a percentage of improvement in the proposed building performance rating compared to the baseline building performance rating per ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-2004 (without amendments)…”

I've reviewed all the 90.1-2004 addenda and don't see where vertical
fenestration requirement of "distributing uniformly in horizontal bands
across the four orientations" has been removed. Addenda "as" which
refers to this section doesn't remove either.

Appendix G notes that for the Baseline building: "Vertical fenestration
areas for new buildings and additions shall equal that in the proposed
design or 40% of gross above grade wall area, whichever is smaller, and
shall be distributed uniformly in horizontal bands across the four
orientations."
Does this mean that the Baseline building gets windows on all walls on
each orientation whether or not the Design case has a window in all
walls on each orientation.  For example, if the west orientation has 30%
glazing overall but many spaces have no windows - some walls on the west
face have more that 30%.  Do those spaces in the Baseline case get 30%
glazing?  Or do I only put windows in the Baseline case where there are
windows in the Design case.
