The University of Idaho, Integrated Design Lab (UI-IDL) in Boise, Idaho has
an excellent opportunity for a Building Simulation Specialist and a Field
Engineer to work in a dynamic academic research and professional outreach
setting committed to reducing energy use in buildings while supporting high
quality design and ensuring exceptional levels of human comfort. The UI-IDL
conducts research projects in areas of energy efficiency and human factors
related to the design and operation of daylighting, passive and hybrid
cooling, and alternative heating and ventilating systems. Results from
research activities feed into professional collaborations with architects
and engineers on new construction projects and major renovations providing a
living laboratory for the application of new strategies. Research feeds
practice, practice feeds research, and both mesh with teaching.

The UI-DIL is a member of the Pacific Northwest University Lab Network, a
semi-formal collaborative relationship held between the Boise lab and labs
at the University of Oregon in Eugene and Portland, the University of
Washington in Seattle, Washington State University in Spokane, and Montana
State University in Bozeman. [www.integrateddesignlab.com]

Boise is a growing city in a high desert climate with excellent proximity to
outdoor activities. It is just a few hours drive to world class skiing and
a few pedals from world class mountain biking. Boise was recently ranked by
Money Magazine as one of the top ten Best Places to Live in the US.
Boiseans enjoy four distinct seasons with hot-dry summers and mild winters,
an historic pedestrian-friendly downtown, high quality of life and
relatively low cost of housing. Centrally located within the Western United
States, Boise is just a quick hop from several cities including Seattle,
Portland, Salt Lake City, Spokane, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Denver.
Both positions boast competitive compensation (see job announcements) and
significant latitude to pursue specialized research in your area of interest
and expertise related to energy use in buildings.

Kind regards,
