High Performance Buildings and Advanced Building Energy Systems

The College of Architecture (www.coa.gatech.edu

invites nominations and applications for one or more Tenure/Tenure-Track
Faculty Position with a joint appointment in Architecture and Mechanical
Engineering at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level.

 

The College of Architecture and the School of Mechanical Engineering
aspire to advance the design of high performance buildings through
innovative teaching and research in building physics and simulation,
including areas such as heat and mass transfer, ventilation, sustainable
space-conditioning equipment and integrated subsystems, HVAC
technologies, sensing and control, and/or acoustics, and passive and
active energy harvesting as applied to energy efficient building and
construction practices. Candidates must demonstrate proven record of
scholarship in one or more of these areas.  Senior candidates must have
a demonstrated record of research and scholarship. Specifically, we seek
candidates with a commitment to leading interdisciplinary research and
teaching between Architecture and Mechanical Engineering on the
application of energy efficient technologies in buildings.

 

The successful candidate would be expected to develop and teach courses
in environmental systems to architecture and engineering students,
participate in architectural studio reviews, and advise
post-professional Master of Science and PhD students in the areas of
building performance and advanced building technologies. Candidates
holding a PhD in architecture, building science, architectural
engineering, or related fields, along with a professional degree in
architecture are highly preferred. We particularly encourage candidates
who can increase the diversity of our faculty. The position will begin
in August 2009 or as otherwise negotiated. We offer a competitive salary
and benefits package.
