An alternative way is to edit the pd2 file: deleting all references to the AutoCAD backgrounds.

John,

 

I am guessing you are referring to AutoCAD Background files that you use to get the building geometry input. And, one crude way to get rid of these files is to change the location of referenced Autocad files and try opening the equest file, and message will pop up asking for the reference files, with in the options you will also see "remove all backgrounds". this should do it. Once the file is opened,  save and close it. and next time around the equest file will load faster.
