[Bldg-sim] 90.1 Appendix G heating with no cooling on Trace 700

The baseline cooling system is electric dx, not necessarily VAV. I would
assume you could just model a constant volume electric DX unit in your
proposed case.

Also, you can change your cooling schedule to something unreasonably high
like 95 degrees, then the cooling should never come on. As far as I know,
this is a legitimate as ASHRAE and LEED do not mandate what temperatures
should be used.

Subject: [Bldg-sim] 90.1 Appendix G heating with no cooling on Trace 700

I am trying to model a large building with heating and no cooling. The
heating is constant volume. 90.1 Appendix G says I need to model the
baseline system as a VAV system with heating and cooling, and that I need
to include the baseline cooling system in the proposed building.

Trace 700 does not allow "divorcing" the heating from the cooling, which
means I will end up with a VAV heating system.

Trane CDS is saying that this is what I have to do. I accept the need to
have a VAV cooling system, but being forced to have the heating as VAV
means the energy differences between the proposed heating and the 90.1
minimum heating system will not be calculated since they are the same.

My question is, how do I model the heating system as constant volume and
have the VAV cooling system? Has anyone had this problem and did you just
live with it?
