[Bldg-sim] ASHRAE 62.1

Outside air volume in 62.1 is a function of area, occupant density, and system. If your area, system, and OA volume are all fixed parameters, it would seem all you can do is solve for occupant density.

Robert:

I am unsure as to what you mean trying to get an existing building, especially an older one, to comply with 62.1. It probably WON'T.

Also, the first CA Title-24 was 1977. So it probably flew to the CA Mechanical Code at the time (Uniform Building Code).

I am working on an existing building, trying to show compliance with ASHRAE 62.1. The supply and return diffusers are in the ceiling and that forces dividing by a 0.8 factor that increases the outside air requirement by 25%. The building was designed in the late sixties to CA T-24. It appears to have about 20% outside air. This seems pretty good, at first look, but it doesn't seem to satisfy 62.1. Any and all advice will be appreciated.
