Hi Omer,
I do not have a reference of the method suggested by Mr.Oylear. However, I
do support Robby's opinion. USGBC does not advance the use of any specific
simulation software. Savings from any strategy beyond the capacity of the
simulation tool should be determined as per Appendix G's methodology for
Exceptional Calculation Methods. Support your claims with spreadsheet
calculations and /or robust research and clearly explain your methodology.
This is acceptable to USGBC.
Hope this helps.

Thanks,

According to the presenters of that method they stated that USGBC had
accepted the spreadsheet method on a previous job. There is nothing really
absurd about the calculation. It is per Appendix G's methodology for
Exceptional Calculation Methods when a program cannot model a particular
energy saving strategy.

Dear All,

I thank you for all the valuable answers. One last question is, do you think
USGBC would accept simulation results by eQuest carried out the way Mr.
Oylear has suggested or the way Mr. Schrader mentions in his posts? Or would
they only accept results if VRF modelling is done by EnergyPro?

Best regards.
