[Bldg-sim] Fwd: SketchUp 2 DAYSIM v.3 Error

Nader,

I had experienced a few issues with the export feature, hence had got in touch with Thomas (who, for the record, is
a great resource!) and am summarizing my findings:

1. su2rad_daysim_r03 has an export option 'daysim', which was not present in the earlier release.
   Choose this when exporting.
2. After export, Daysim should start up on its own and load your model. You should be asked to load a
weather file, and assuming you define the sensors after export, a sensor points file will also be needed.
3. Exporting to a local drive folder (for e.g. C:\DAYSIM\Projects\XYZ) has worked best for me.
4. Materials from SketchUp do not get exported correctly to Daysim. Check you materials file after export to
   manually edit your values.
5. The export works with both SketchUp V6 and V7. I have been using Daysim 3.0 beta version, and have not
tried the export with the 2.1.P3 or P4 yet.

These are general findings, and I hope they help you some. This is a nice tool in that it allows you to export
from the standard version of SketchUp, unlike the pro required otherwise.

Regards,
Umesh

Thomas:

Thank you for your reply. I do not think the error is for spaces in names. After we export the file, Daysim cannot open the exported file needing more files that never generated by Sketchup.

So my guess is that we are not doing the right steps in Skecthup export to daysim.

Is there any more detailed instructions on how to export to daysim from sketchup.. something like step-by-step for 1st timers?

Nader
