Hey David,

EnergyPlus is foreign to me right now, but if I'm correct in understanding DesignBuilder will export the DOE benchmark models into Sketchup, then the answer is definitely yes. There is a procedure I've documented to move from Sketchup à AGI32, and I use it fairly often for photometric/rendering studies. I've written on this a while back and more recently in the AGI32 forums... (http://www.agi32.com/forums/view_topic.php?id=864&forum_id=4).

Some simplification may be in order once you're in Sketchup to make the transition into AGI32 cleanly.

I have reason to believe the most recent AGI32 update (2.1?) resolves much of the coplanar triangulation I've learned to work around / live with, which could potentially eliminate some/all of the intermediate CAD processing steps (region/union). I've seen screenshots elsewhere that looked promising.

Subject: [Bldg-sim] EnergyPlus and AGI32 Interoperability

All,

Does anyone know of a way to communicate between EnergyPlus and AGI32? Specifically, we would like to use the DOE Commercial Benchmark Models that are available in EnergyPlus and export them to AGI32 for lighting analysis and design. We will be using DesignBuilder as our visualization tool for EnergyPlus.

Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Sincerely,
