Chris,
Check your local jurisdiction's mechanical code. For example, the 2010
Mechanical Code of New York State, Section 404, covers enclosed parking
garages. Systems, "shall be permitted to operate intermittently where
the system is arranged to operate automatically upon detection of
vehicle operation or the presence of occupants by approved automatic
detection devices." Otherwise, public garage exhaust has to operate
continuously per 502.13.
Regards,
Bill

Garage exhaust runtime for different types of facilities and possible
savings from demand CO-ventilation controls depending on the type of
application are well covered in ASHRAE Applications Handbook Chapter 15.

Hi Chris,
Try searching Appendix C - table 17 from the Green Star SA "ENERGY
CALCULATOR & MODELLING PROTOCOL GUIDE" for a start.
Hope that helps

Subject: [Bldg-sim] Parking Garage - Fan Operation Schedule
I'm looking for a documented schedule for the operation of
nonresidential buildings parking garage exhaust fans.
Obviously we can use our engineering common sense and make a judgement
as to when, and for what duration, these fans might operate. What I'm
trying to find is a code or standard which documents this operation.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Chris
