[Bldg-sim] existing studies on savings from VRF systems

Dear all,

I'm sure the energy reduction is a function of various situation specific
factors but are there any studies, published or otherwise, documenting
projected or achieved savings from VRF systems compared to a baseline of a
split system without the variable flow or ASHRAE 90.1 baseline systems?

I'm looking for thumbrule assumptions that can be applied at the schematic
design level without having to go through the complicated workarounds.
