[Bldg-sim] RE : glazing properties

FYI,

You'll also need to consult the NFRC database, which includes the XXXX or four digit library designation for LBNL's WINDOW program that has the inputs for DOE-2, EQUEST and Energyplus as well as other programs. Simulation of the advanced glazing is non-trivial. Hence, you'll need to use a program that uses a predefined window definition file, as well as a description of the frame, placement (i.e., shading), and infiltration.

Leen,

Window panels are made of a combination of parameters. There are a lot of parameter (options) available on the market influencing the effiency of the window panel:

- Gas (argon/krypton/air);
- Type of glass (clear/low-e/bronze/silver etc.);
- Position and number of the low-e coatings (properties of low-e coating can vary depending of the degree of efficiency needed);
- Nb of panes;
- Thickness of glass pane;
- Width of gap;
- Etc.

I think, first of all you will have to make a selection of parameters for a complete window panel. It will be easier to find the properties after.

Would the International Glazing Database published by LBNL help? It contains over 1000 glazing products. Free access information is located at: http://windows.lbl.gov/g/IGDB/default.htm

Dear all,

I am looking for the properties of glazing, i.e. the conductivity, specific heat and density, solar absorbance, IR resistance ... of the galzing layers in a double or triple glazed surface.

Thanks in advance

Leen
