Carrier is seeking a motivated, proven leader in the energy modeling space to lead our new North American Advantec Solutions Center.  

The AdanTEC Solutions Center is a group of Experts in Energy Efficiency and the Environment focused on developing sustainable building solutions for our customers.  This team is uniquely positioned to leverage the capabilities of Carrier and United Technologies to solve new and unique building challenges.  The Center supports selling organizations across Carrier in developing strategic, energy efficient and custom-engineered building solutions for complex projects. 

UTC Climate, Controls & Security is the leading provider of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, building controls and automation, and fire and security solutions. UTC Climate, Controls & Security is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), a leading provider to the aerospace and building systems industries worldwide. 

This position will serve as the leader for the AdvanTEC group in North America and will interface with other AdvanTEC Solution centers in Europe and Asia.

Responsibilities 
- Help drive innovation in commercial product designs by working with sales, marketing, and engineering teams to develop and manage a pipeline of Target Projects. 

- Direct staff in modeling and simulation of HVAC systems performance, utilizing existing software tools (i.e. IPM, TRNSYS, CONTAMW, and HAP), and unique new code where necessary to determine performance and value of potential system solutions.

- Evaluate existing and new HVAC systems solutions, both for potential use on Target Projects and as part of understanding the competitive landscape in North America. Interface with the Global AdvanTEC teams in EMEA and APO to trade ideas and learn from each other's experiences. 

- Understand and document customer needs for each project and direct the staff in fulfilling those needs throughout each phase of the project. 

- Define system solutions and system operational characteristics, and communicate these to interested parties in both formal and informal manners to assist in reaching consensus on project solution ideas. 

- Maintain contact throughout project life and contribute as required during project execution phase, including close contact with BU engineering wherever new product development or major modifications to existing equipment/systems is required. 

- Apply, develop and improve Standard Work and Methods that help increase Carrier's Systems Applications Engineering competencies and their impact on company-wide engineering effectiveness in systems analysis and related design areas. 

- Ensure effective financial management of projects, with deliverables met as planned and within budget.

Location:  Farmington, CT or Syracuse, NY

Education: 

- Candidates should possess at least a MS in Engineering with concentration in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering with at least 10 years of experience.

Experience/Qualifications: 

- Proven building systems modeling and/or HVAC system modeling expertise
- HVAC product and systems competency
- Customer focus 
- Ability to mentor and coordinate the development of staff in various aspects of the group's activities 
- Financial acumen 
- Strong communication skills 
- Ability to work in a global environment is required.
