Thanks for clarifying the typo ... actually, the first, mistyped email may have done a better job of explaining how most folks try to design Trombe' walls...especially when trying to simulate them since most simulation programs do a lousy job of this...hence I'd go with the first email.

This really depends on how you design it. If you treat it as an ass on system then it could get expensive. However - if you can integrate it into the building design - (I worked on a building design with 8" concrete Trombe Walls that were used for lateral bracing as well as load bearing) - it doesn't have to be a cost add.
