On a similar note:
How active is the UAE chapter? I noticed that the link to them on the IBPSA.org page is dead.
Do you think they are open to morph into a larger Gulf chapter (GCC)?
The reason I ask is that I gave a lecture at KFUPM in Dammam last week and there was interest in starting such a chapter.

Subject: [Bldg-sim] Announcing the Newest IBPSA affiliate -- Portugal!

The IBPSA (International Building Performance Simulation Association) board is pleased to announce the establishment of a new IBPSA affiliate in Portugal.

Professor Guilherme Carrilho da Graça of Universidade de Lisboa is the first president of IBPSA-Portugal.

This brings IBPSA to 30 affiliates covering 40 countries worldwide (with more in the works).  IBPSA membership is now nearly 5,000 worldwide. IBPSA-Portugal is setting up their web site which will be listed on the IBPSA web site (www.ibpsa.org<http://www.ibpsa.org<http://www.ibpsa.org%3chttp:/www.ibpsa.org>>).

Congratulations to IBPSA-Portugal!

If you know of other countries or regions that might be ready to create IBPSA affiliates, please let the Regional Affiliate Development committee know.
