[EnergyPlus_Support] Rare materials

Dear all,
this is Carmen Herrero from Spain.
I would like to ask you something: Is is possible, or more than
possible accurate, to introduce in EnergyPlus rare materials not
often used in regular buildings? I mean, i´m a member of a
researching group about new materials for building envelopes. So, for
instance, if we study vegetal envelopes and we manage to aproximate
overall properties for that heterogeneus material such as thermal
conductivity, specific heat...etc would it be accurate to introduce
the data in the idef editor and treat the rare material as if it was
regular?
Now, i´m trying to simulate small examples to learn how to use the
programm, but in the near future i will have to apply the program to
evaluate alternative ecological buildings. So, am i losing my time?
thanks a lot on advance.
by the way, i live in Madrid, Is there any spanish EnergyPlus user
living in Madrid?

Best regards,
Carmen Herrero.
