Theoretically, the heat pump should work in series with the source side of the 
water heater, but I cannot say that I have actually tried that myself.  

The error message "the inlet node of my heat pump does not find a matched 
outlet node" indicates that something is misconnected or connected in reverse.  
Search the bnd output file for the node name mentioned in the error.  This may 
help you discover the problem.
