Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Ground Temperature Calculation

The WeatherConverter reads the text version of the DOE-2 .bin files.
Convert to text and the WeatherConverter will read them.

Michael,
thanks. I saw the same issue in a couple of italian .stat files I checked
last week.
I thought about two alternatives so far : or to use the .epw file of
Geneve, even if it's not an accurate solution, or to try to convert other
weather data formats into .epw through the energyplus weather converter. Do
you know if there are any alterntive weather data format availabIe in the
net I can download? I found .bin files on the DOE2 website , but I cannot
convert them with energyplus weather converter.

I see the problem. In the statistics file (.stat) for
ITA_Milano-Linate_IGDG,
the values for monthly average Global Horizontal solar (search the file for

"Global Avg") are NA. This is OK for EnergyPlus, because it uses the direct

and diffuse solar components. But the Slab preprocessor (and I would guess
the
Basement one as well) are apparently using the Global Horizontal solar
values
which are not present in some (or all?) of the IGDG epw files. So, for now,

you will have to find a different format weather file for a similar climate
to
use with the slab program.

I will ask if these can be reprocessed to fill in the global horizontal
data
using the direct and diffuse data.
