RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] nested if/else loop within schedule

Ian,

Right now, I don't think there is a control feature that will do this
for you. But you can accomplish this by preprocessing a complicated
schedule for chilled water temperature that would become input in your
model. Report out the outdoor wetbulb temperature from a prior run and
then develop chilled water set points from your algorithm in something
like Excel. Then use the Schedule:File:Comma to feed the complex water
set points into EnergyPlus.

BTW we are working on a comprehensive new controls feature with a run
time language that will be able to do this sort of thing in a future
release.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] nested if/else loop within schedule

Is it possible to have if/ifelse/else commands based on the ambient wet
bulb for each hour in a day schedule defining the chilled inlet water
temperature. I want to maximize the supply of condenser water from a 7 F
approach fluid cooler to a radiant floor. Here is the logic that I'm
trying to program:

1. If Wet Bulb < 48 F, inlet water = 55 F (48+7)
2. If 48 F < Wet Bulb < 51 F, inlet water = Wet Bulb + 7 F
3. If Wet Bulb > 51 F, inlet water = 58 F

What is the proper type of syntax for E+ to understand this logic and
what is the code variable for ambient wet bulb at each time step.

Thanks in advance
Ian
