RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Optimizing Energy consumption without sacrificing comfort

Lixing,

Thank you for the feedback. I think it is the same as a previous one when I
did try the comfort control and it worked.

But, is there such a thing as PMV sensor? Unless I am wrong, then comfort
control is only academic and cannot be practically implemented?

If the numerical value of the FangerPMV is too big, what I can think of is
to look into the four schedules that are referenced(?) by the People object
and adjust the Clothing schedule say to get smaller FangerPMV. This is my
simple way of optimizing. What do you think?

Since FangerPMV uses at least 11 variables, which variable to adjust then
depends only on experience. I have heard of GenOpt but have not used it.
Will it help?

Many thanks,

ooi

Ooi:

If you would like to control the Fanger PMV, one of options is to use ZONE
CONTROL:THERMAL COMFORT, which allows users to control PMVs. The example
input file of FurnaceWithDXSystemComfortControl.idf may be a good start.
