Sam,

We've run into this before and rebooting seems to
sometimes solve the issue.  We had the problem on
several PCs last week in two workshops in Australia.

There is also a new version of the IDF Editor that you
can download from the YahooGroup:

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/EnergyPlus_Support/files/Updates/Windows/

You have to be a member of the group to get to the files.

If that doesn't solve it, let us know.
