[EnergyPlus_Support] Window reveals help

I've read through all the documentation on window reveals, and I'm
still confused. According to the documentation, the window reveals are
spec'd from the inside reveal edge->glass, and energy plus figures out
the Glass->outside reveal. In otherwords the input specifies the glass
distance from the inner wall surface, and E+ calcs the glass distance
from the outer wall surface.

However, as far as I know E+ knows nothing about wall thickness (1-D
calculations), so on what basis does it calculate the window to outer
wall surface.

So does that mean the default setting of '0' places the window on the
inside wall surface (full depth reveal), instead of the US
architectural norm of the outside wall surface?

Also, I'm baffled that E+ takes the inner reveal as the augment, as
the inner reveal has no impact on shading (and thus solar gain...
although it does impact daylight diffusion), whereas the exterior
reveal does.

In a previous post, it was stated that reveals should show up as
window->wall off-sets in the DXF output. But I see none in mine, they
completely coplaner.

thanks,
Troy
