[EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Ground Source heat pump equation coefficients

Dear E+ Support Group,

As I understand it....
Dr Jeff Spitler had some sort of development project with DOE a while
back (or perhaps it was a proposal to DO some development). He
proposed that E+ be enhanced to create the "g-functions" based on
various borefield design configurations, but the proposal was turned
down, in part because their creation was available via other
commercially available software.
The g-functions spreadsheet was a response to a DOE request for
examples, and was not intended as a well-documented explanation.
At present, the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association
sells Dr. Spitler's program GLHEPro, which calculates g-functions in
addition to its principal purpose of borefield design.
Dr Spitler mentioned that there's a new version of GLHEPro about to be
released which (I'm not clear on this part) either adds or enhances
the g-functions to GLHEPro. I thought he said that g-functions were
ADDED in the about-to-be-released version; perhaps that feature was
previously a developer-only feature?
In addition, he mentioned that he thought E Quest could create
g-functions.
In summary, it sounds like you need E Quest or GLHEPro to create
g-functions...
If you need Dr. Spiler's email address to get the first person scoop,
you can search http://www.hvac.okstate.edu/faculty.html
