[Equest-users] Green Roofs

I live and work in Vancouver, BC, where frequent rainfall and the occasional snowfall mean that green roofs have what one might call a dynamic R-value. Imagine if you will that in the dead of winter during a cold spell that follows a three week period of intense rain (common scenario), the green roof is essentially a block of ice. Compare this with a period of drought in the summer time where the moisture content of the green roof is almost nil (assuming an extensive green roof, <6" soil). It would be inappropriate to assign a static R-value for, say, 3" of soil of a given moisture content, to accurately simulate its thermal properties over the year.

As such, we typically do not model the thermal properties of a green roof, only the R-value of the insulation below it.

My understanding is that eQuest only deals with static R-values. I do not know of any work arounds for modeling a dynamic R-value.

Does anyone know if equest is capable of modeling a green roof, or if there is a work around for accurately modeling one?
