[Equest-users] HVAC Schedules

Omar,

The design cooling and heating temperatures DESIGN-COOL-T and
DESIGN-HEAT-T are used by eQUEST to calculate supply air flowrates if
you don't enter the values manually. They are not hourly setpoints and
will not control how the systems operate. Do not try to change schedule
types for the schedules that the wizard generates or you will get
errors. The help menu explains which types of schedules are expected in
each field.

Regards,
Bill

Ok so now I understand that the HVAC temperature schedules are actually
setpoints that are specified for each hour in the day. But shouldn't we
specify the setpoints from the thermal zone characteristics (design
heating temp and design cooling temp)? Will these two inputs override
each other?

Should I be using an ON/OFF schedule for the HVAC instead?

Please help as I'm really lost and out of time!

Many thanks,
Omar

Omar,

When you start your project in the Wizard, HVAC schedules will be
generated automatically. Thermostat schedules will be created based on
the thermostat settings you enter on Wizard Screen 2 for the HVAC
system. The thermostat schedules that are created will be named
something like, "S1 Sys1 (VAVS) Cool Sch" and will appear in the Basic
Specifications, Cooling and Heating tabs for each of your HVAC zones
when you enter DD Edit mode. The thermostat schedules put your system
into cooling or heating mode based on the temperatures of your zones.
You will also have fan schedules (such as "S1 Sys1 (VAVS) Fan Sch") for
each HVAC system that control when the fans operate. A great way to
learn is to right click in each of the fields once you get into DD Edit
mode to access the help menu.

Regards,
Bill

Think of HVAC schedules as availability of the system to turn on, not
necessarily whether it actually is on or not. For instance a System can
modulate on its own even if the HVAC schedule is 1 (ON) for the whole
year.

Dear all,

I honestly didn't understand the kinds of schedules for HVAC. My project
is a school. What are the options of the daily schedules of the HVAC
system?

If the type is temperature, then what are these temperatures I have to
input every hour? Or shall I put it as ON/OFF and turn it on during
occupancy hours?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,
Omar
