[Equest-users] VRV SYstem Equipment Efficiency

Reniel,

To add to Gary's response, my Daikin friend indicated they're waiting on the current draft of ARI-1230 to be approved. This is a new standard designed for multi-split VRV systems, and hopefully it will be implemented before the end of 2010.

If your project uses small, single-split VRV systems, these have been rated under ARI-210/240 since 2008. The ARI Certified Product Directory contains efficiencies by indoor/outdoor unit combo for each manufacturer, and I've attached a couple pages I pulled out for a previous job. As Gary stated, they're all 13 SEER or higher. You can download the full product directory for free (ahridirectory.org) if you need other manufacturers' ratings.

Thanks,

Dakota Kelley

To the best of my knowledge, there aren't any.

Last time I checked, VRV was not ARI certified for its efficiency
ratings at any level above 13 SEER due to the fact that the VRV
equipment, by its nature, can be coupled with multiple coil
configurations. (e.g. Different indoor equipment combinations)

ARI addressed this problem by simply stating that all VRV equipment was
thus rated at 13 SEER. They know it will go well beyond that, but
without knowing the particulars about the installation, there is no way
to tell. You could, of course, rely on manufacturer's data to tell you,
but I'm not sure if you would be following the letter of the law in that
instance. Other group members would have to chime in to give their
interpretation.

Good luck,
Gary

Hi to all!

Where can we find the Minimum Requirement System Efficiency of a VRV
System in ASHRAE 90.1?
Which of those systems mentioned in the ASHRAE 90.1 can we use to
compare such equipment?

Thanks

Reniel
