[Equest-users] External Wall Calculation

John,

You could try changing the value of infiltration in the wizard (which
allows cfm per sq. ft. of exterior wall). I can't find it in the
documentation but I assume that the value of cfm/ft2 for each space
(when using Air Change method) is calculated by eQUEST based on the
value of cfm/ft2 entered in the wizard. If you're already in DD Edit
mode, you'll have to work from a saved-as copy of your model (to go back
to the wizard) and work with the input files to copy the new
infiltration numbers. This might not be worth it unless you haven't made
a lot of changes to the spaces in DD Edit mode, or if you are good at
selective editing of input files.

Regards,
Bill

Scott,

Thanks for the explanation, at least now I know I shouldn't bother
banging my head against the wall on this one. Does anyone have any tips
for changing infiltration CFM/SF of exterior wall without going through
each zone and manually calculating it?

The DOE-2 BDL expression module does not allow parent components to
reference keyword values of their child components. Back when the
expression module was developed, this limitation was put in place to
minimize changes required to the BDL file reading & defaulting mechanism
and also to simplify expression dependencies evaluation and minimize the
likelihood of circularities defined when two components can each
reference data of the other.
The ruleset processing mechanism that provides the foundation of the
compliance analysis and QC reporting features of eQUEST does include the
ability to reference components in both directions (children referencing
parents as well as parents referencing children), but to date this
capability has not been extended for use in performing parametric runs
or facilitating semi-automated edits to building models.

Hello All,

Does anyone know of a way I can reference a child code word? My
specific situation is that I want my infiltration to be controlled via a
global parameter that represents the infiltration in terms of CFM/SF of
Exterior wall. I want to be able to parametrically change this value so
I have to do it in DD Edit. The problem is that infiltration is a zone
keyword that is the parent of the exterior wall. It wouldn't be an
issue the other way around because I could just use the #P("keyword").
Any ideas on how I can reference the child using DOE2 language?
