To figure LPD’s quickly, COMcheck is my weapon of choice – alongside an area
takeoff.

Select 90.1-2001 as your code from the top menu, then go through the first
screen entering space areas using the dropdown menus.  You’ll have a total
allowable LPD in the end.

Depending on whether you have ‘fine material storage,’ you may or may not want
to go space-by-space’ vs. whole building method for a warehouse… it doesn’t take
long to explore both.

Remember, EPAct has a caveat for warehouses if doing the interim lighting rule.

Nick:

Thank you for the information.  I downloaded ComCheck, and yes, this is for
EPAct.  What I need at present is what is the allowable (w/sf) for a warehouse
in 90.1-2001. I want to be able to give the lighting designer what their maximum
is.

Thanks!

Note: Forwarded message is attached.
Paul,

As a caution, If you’re looking into 90.1-2001 LPD’s in the context of EPAct, be
sure you’re aware of Addendum G and that you’re using the correct set of values
(see attached discussion from [bldg-sim]).

On a related note –COMcheck is a very handy free tool to be aware of:

http://www.energycodes.gov/comcheck/download.stm

This tool puts a lot of energy codes (LPD’s, specifically) at your fingertips.

Does anyone have a copy of 90.1 (2001), specifically the lighting (W/SF based on
building type) redily avialable and can share them?  We only have 2004 and 2007,
I need this informatin to verify lighting levels for an older project.

Thank you!
