[Equest-users] Radiant ceilings

Arpan,

Thanks a lot for your response. I totally see what you are saying. I can sure create a how water and a chilled water loop and select 'hot water loop' as my heating source in heating tab. But in my cooling tab, my model wouldn't allow me to select a 'cool source' at all! It sticks with n/a, even though the drop down menu shows chilled water and electric DX as options, it won't let me select any of them....what do I do and why is this so?

Your response will be greatly appreciated.

I would still use baseboards for radiant heating, FCU for radiant cooling. Build secondary water-side loops and assign baseboards to heating hot water secondary loop and fan coil to secondary chilled water loop.

Thanks, Rob and Arpan. I will try using fan coil units - will that be a good representation of radiant slab heating and AC? As soon as I select VAV/PVAV as the system type, the cool source in the cooling tab doesn't allow any change...why is that so?

An alternate method is using fan coil units with turned down fans. Have you tried this already?

eQuest forces the cooling system of "VAV" to chilled water. if you use "PVAV" or packaged VAV, then the cooling type is forced to be DX coils.

Hello all,

I need to model radiant ceiling for heating and cooling both. As per the suggestions in the archive (quoted below), I kept the system as VAV, reduced fan usage to represent radiant slab system's fan usage, kept my heating by water loop baseboards and cooling by DX and coil head and loop temperatures as per radiant slab system but after selecting the system type as 'VAV', in the cooling page, it won't allow me to select 'electric DX' as the cooling source.

Kindly advice how can I solve this problem.

Thanks a lot,

Shalini

Rob,

Select the system based on the DX air conditioning, then add hot water
baseboards for the radiant slab. Set your baseboard capacity, coil head,
loop temperature etc. to match the radiant slab heating system.

ANDair conditioning?

To All,

Is it possible to model a building with radiant slab heat (hot water
loop) and air conditioning? It appears to me that the eQUEST airside
system type for radiant slab heating is FPH (floor panel heating

system), and that this is "heating only".

Can anyone suggest a way to model a building that has both radiant slab
heating and DX air conditioning?

Thanks,
