[Equest-users] Air Handler Per Floor

Roger,

Air-side systems can serve zones in different shells. In the DD Wizard, create the air-side systems, then go into each shell and on Screen 14 you can assign an HVAC air system to each zone group. Look for "HVAC System:" near the center of the screen and select the appropriate system from the drop-down menu. If Screen 14 is not available, go to Screen 13 and check the box for "Show Zone Group Screen."

The detail mode is a more advanced user interface of the program that gives you access to more features and inputs. It's sometimes called the detailed interface. If you click on Mode in the toolbar you can see if you are in "Wizard Data Edit" or "Detailed Data Edit." To switch to detailed data edit mode, click on "Detailed Data Edit" under Mode. A word of caution...If you later find that you need to go back into the wizard (some things are easier to do in a wizard) you will lose all changes that you made in the detailed interface. If your changes in the detailed interface are rather simple, you can redo them fairly quickly. I often make a list of changes that I make in the detailed interface just in case I need to redo them after going back into the wizard. If the changes are more significant, you could save separate files for the wizard and the detailed interface and then use a text comparison software like WinMerge to move text from one .inp file to the other.

Sorry, when you say "make the changes in detail mode" what do you mean exactly? How do I connect the two shells on the same floor to share the same air handler? I'm fairly new to eQUEST so sorry if this is a simple problem.

Best,
Roger

I would set it as air handler per floor as you have it and then make the changes in the detail mode. Or make three separate systems per site and assign the correct shells and floors to the units in the wizard.

Subject: [Equest-users] Air Handler Per Floor

Hi,

How do I apply an air handler per floor with multiple shells on the same floor?I am trying to model an HVAC system with an air handler on each floor of a two story building. How the building is set up in my model is that shells 1 and 2 are the first floor and shell 3 is the basement.

Thanks for the help,

Roger Maranan
