[Equest-users] Base Case building mutual shading

Anura,

This just means that one part of the building cannot shade another part
of the building. This is so this feature would be credited to the
proposed building when it is a beneficial design. The easiest way to do
this in eQuest is if you go to Building Shell and click on an Exterior
Wall in your Component Tree and click the spreadsheet tab, on the far
right side, the last column is "Shading Surface". Changing this to "No"
specifies that exterior wall not to shade any other surfaces of the
building. This input is also in the Exterior Surface Properties for an
Exterior Wall under the Daylighting - Shading - Other tab. It should be
noted that any shading by surrounding structures and topography should
be modeled identically in the baseline and proposed buildings.

Thanks,

Subject: [Equest-users] Base Case building mutual shading

Dear All

It is stated that Base case building has to be modeled to avoid mutual
shading by the building itself. U shape and L shape are simple examples.

Can someone throw some ligth on this please.

Thanks in advance

Anura
