Hi Pasha,

Thanks for the information. I have experience building LEED models, let's see if that will help.

I was wondering if there are questions on specific ASHRAE 90.1 topics, like for example which setpoints to use in the baseline. Or would the questions require
detailed knowledge of capacity and efficiency adjustment curves?

Best regards,

Omer Moltay

Hi Kristy& Omer,

I also had the same experience as Kristy when I took the BEMP exam.
Anything that I studied from the ASHRAE handbooks, or otherwise, turned
out to be non-applicable. What proved to be supportive of my passing the
BEMP exam was my direct experience as an energy modeler and the many years
of training and learning from continuous experience of
applying guidelines and creating energy models.

The exam itself was applied pressure under the time constraint to complete
the exam questions and the additional 15 questions that were not being
scored to the passing of the exam. These additional questions were noted
as "test questions". In my experience this exam is a very good measure of
those who are experienced with building successful and accurate energy
models against those who lack enough experience with energy modeling for
building design projects.

If you can build successful energy models for design or compliance purposes
then you should have no problems passing this exam.

Good luck on your exam!

Pasha

>/ Not sure if anyone answered your question, but I recently took the BEMP

/>/ job, then the questions are not difficult. My biggest challenge was that I
/>/ felt there were too many questions for the time allotted. I didn't have a
/>/ chance to actually read and calculate every question. I ended up passing,
/>/ but felt very short on time. I hope this helps you set your test-taking

/>/
/>/ Dear All,
/>/
/>/ I hope you don't mind that this is a bit off topic, but I believe there
/>/ should be some people who have taken the BEMP exam here.
/>/
/>/ Can exam takers provide some sample questions to give an idea about the
/>/ difficulty of this exam? I am not sure about the level of detail the
/>/ questions go into. Is reading and understanding everything once sufficient
/>/ or should things like equations etc. be memorized? There is so much
/>/ information in the ASHRAE Fundamentals Handbook, I am not sure how to be
/>/ selective regarding the chapters.
/>/
/>/ Also, for other people who might be preparing, ASHRAE published an Exam
/>/ Study Guide for this, which is available for purchase on its website. It
/>/ provides a bit more information about which chapters of the reference
/>/ material are relevant, but I find the study guide also not very indicative
/>/ of the level of detail they want.
/>/
/>/ Thank you,
