[Equest-users] Small store on a big Shopping Mall

Hi José,

If the store is bounded on all sides (including above) by spaces conditioned to the same temperatures as the store, you could assert heat transfer is negligible and choose to either model adiabatic walls or (more easily) no walls: Create a shell in wizards equal to your store footprint, then in detailed mode delete all exterior surfaces. You may need to turn on stuff that's normally off in the 3D view to make the 3D view functional thereafter ;).

If the space is open or adjacent to another space that will have substantially different temperatures, then you need to account for heat transfer and it gets a bit more complicated: you'd want to include those spaces in your model approach, with appropriate interior surfaces separating them from your store.

All told however, I think it's worth mentioning that I believe it's unusual to leverage eQuest specifically for load calculations, considering there are many options for load calculation software built for the task, but if it works for you that's great!

Regards,

~Nick

Subject: [Equest-users] Small store on a big Shopping Mall

Hello Equesters,
I have been using Equest to calculate cooling loads, for relatively small buildings. On these projects it´s easy to use whole building footprint to select building´s different zones.
Now I have a new project, where I need to estimate the cooling load for a single retail store (50 m2) on a big shopping mall (approximately 32.000 m2 each floor). The store is located in the inner part of the mall, protected from the outside.
How should I create a simplifyed footprint, which will include the store as one zone, to perform the calculation?
I´ve searched the forum, but I dind´t find any response there.

Thanks in advance for your help,

José Luis
