Good general advice.

If you are unsure, do as much as you can in wizards before moving to detailed.  With a few isolated exceptions, everything you do in wizards moves into detailed mode.

Those exceptions include naming of systems, shells, and HVAC zones in the wizards... so (being pretty familiar and also interested in getting to detailed mode quickly), I wouldn't typically invest much time/effort naming things in the wizards.

Yes, it will be transferred successfully. But it's a one way process. The minute you move to detailed mode and make changes there, you can't come back to wizard mode and expect those changes reflected in there. I would say, if you have limited experience & your project can be taken care of by wizard mode (atleast most of items), try accomplishing it there and then move to DD mode for necessary changes.
