[Equest-users] Ventilation

Farid,

I have run into issues in the past with trying to specify two or more different types of airflow (i.e. CFM/Area, CFM, ACH) in the same model. Therefore, I use some BDL scripting which combines my flow rate types into one category similar to the script below which assigns flow rate based on the "C-ACTIVITY-DESC" of the space.

if (#LR("SPACE","C-ACTIVITY-DESC")=="Flor")
then (#LR("SPACE","HEIGHT")*3)/#LR("SPACE","AREA")/60
else
((#LR("SPACE","NUMBER-OF-PEOPLE"))*17)/(#LR("SPACE","AREA"))
endif
/*([Space Height]*[OA ACH])/[Conversion]
/*or
/*([# of people in space]*[Typical CFM/Person for office space])/[Space Area]

Hopefully this helps.

Sincerely,

I agree, input airflow rates as ACH instead of cfm/person or any other by changing the units in the wizard (drop-down box option). This is designed for and works well for process-driven ventilation rates.

It will be high. 16ACH with a 15ft ceiling is massive - that's 4cfm/ft2.

You do have the option of inputting the ventilation rates as ACH and not cfm/person - which is how I would recommend doing it. The reason being - if it's a lab, you are likely ventilating at a rate or schedule that's not tied to the human occupancy schedule.

Hi
I am trying to model an existing Lab buildng with 16ACH actual ventilation rate. the height of the floor to ceiling is 15ft, the area is 35556 SF and about 100 people are working in the building.

How can I calculate CFM per person. The numbers I am getting is really high and is not even close to ahrae 62.1

Here is what I did for calculation

CFM/person = 16 (ach) x 35556 SF x 15ft / 60 / 100person
